Sorry, nature it is.

Came home too late, can't be bothered to find and edit another photo, letting this one go up instead.

I feel I succeeded in capturing the movement of the wind. Which was about all I tried to do. Don't ask about the failed attempts..

Sails

I am unsure which of two photos is the better, but in the end I wound up choosing this one. The photos show the same boat with sun through the sails, but from very different angles. At least to me this is a less conventional angle on it, but I don't know if that is why I prefer it.

This is from Hordakyststemnet 2006 i Trellevik.
And yes, I know that is rather incomprehensible to most, but I don't really feel up to translation. Briefly explained, it was a gathering of many traditional boats, many traditional handicrafts, and very many interested people. And alot of my family! There is no doubt that to me the highlight was all the boats though.

Miniature forest

I don't have much to say about this. Not sure my focus was right. But at the moment I felt the backfocus was fitting. Opinions?

Hilly islands

I could not resist posting this too. I am in love with the pastel colours and the lighting, and I had no idea it would turn out well when I took it. Another example that although I then saw the scene as rather drab, I need to keep photoing.
Oh and this is from the west coast of Norway.

They go round no more

This photo is perhaps not the most stunning of the ones I took of the old windmills I saw during my vacation. But for some reason I prefer it. I might post another one later if the famous hindsight tells me I was wrong.

More angry parental birds

These birds thought we came too close to their rocky nesting place with our boat (also Åland). I know the blue tone grades towards the left, and I suppose I should have fixed it, but I quite liked it this way.

Hindsight kicking in a day later; though I edited it a week ago at least. It seems slightly pixelly to me, in the purply zone (which is in the original as well). Suggestions of fixes are welcome.

Swans

Before I went to Norway I spent a week in the Åland archipelago, in a cabin we rented there. There was a sauna and a rowboat and all sorts of nice things, including alot of nature for me to take pictures of. The last day before we were leaving, we were going down to the boat, but behold! The way was blocked by a family of swans, the same family which I had been trying to get good pictures of earlier in the week. I finally got some pictures of them close up at least..

Including this:

And a couple of other pictures that show what happened before they all swam away:

It wasn't actually as easy and smooth as it looks there, we were hanging around for quite a while, even contemplated trying again later, there was lots of hissing from the other party, and Skid threw alot of stones at the water, which made them rather unsure (was it dangerous or not). The male was actually several times going back to sleep, putting his head under his wing, it was Mummy doing all the hissing and in the end taking her babies away (we presume).

To become diligent..

As my title suggests, this is an attempt to, or rather a tool to help me to work more on my photography skills. While I am by no means a great photographer (yet!), I am also aware that friends and other people with kindly sentiments towards me tend to be pleased by what I do.

The intent now, before actually beginning this, is to post at least one photo a week, for instance every wednesday. Hopefully it will mostly be good work, but I think that rather often it will simply be a picture that I like. I might post more often if I feel like it, and I will probably miss some postings. I might post other things at times - drawings or paintings, for instance.

But mostly, this is a tool to make me bring my camera with me and not be so shy about using it. My self-discipline can be somewhat lacking.. In the beginning I have the advantage of archives to take from, but unless I want to post rubbish or repetitive subjects, I need to work hard.

Hopefully it will all work out.

I was lately in Norway visiting my family, and when we were out with the boat I saw this blind passenger. Actually, I saw it when it spun its web from me to the rail (which is where I caught its image). Click photo to enlarge!
