Friendships

I am out of spoons, no spares. I can only hope a night of sleep will give me enough to handle tomorrow, but I'll get through it somehow. But my brain is happy, elated, sated with thoughts and ideas and emotions. I am so very very privileged.

Aug 10th: Driving back south to SLC: Through Yellowstone

It was raining on the first leg of the trip. Sad for the view, but good for the temperature.

Aug 10th, MT

We were sitting around, eating breakfast, when one of the guys came over and asks "have anyone ever broken into a car?" in a worried tone. Almost everybody present raised their hand....

Protip; don't lock yourself out of your car on a camping some miles outside of the desolate tourist town of West Yellowstone, MT. Because the combined skills of all the scientists present weren't enough to get into the car.

Aug 8th: Yellowstone

The morning was begun by having a chipmunk sit on top of our pyramid tent chittering just before dawn. Thanks, mate.

Aug 7th: Driving north

We headed out in the morning, a caravan of three cars, heading north to Montana through Idaho. I was riding in Red, which was warrrrrm. But nice! I love these old cars.

We were camping in West Yellowstone in MT, driving down to Yellowstone during the days. The camp was rough; so we had to swim in a mosquito infested lake to get clean.

The first night I spent in a small square tent, shared with a tall Scot who had generously volunteered to help me stay warm with my not-quite-good-enough sleepingbag - we couldn't close the tent without curling up, so we slept with our feet sticking out to be able to stretch out. Somehow we only got one mosquito in during the night, and we killed that one.
