Norway Road Trip - Chapter 0: Halfway There.

I was wrong!
I HAD taken some photos of our halfway point, where mother lives.
1/5: The river spirit dances.
2/5: Contrast to the steep cliffs of the west country.
3/5: Upriver there are bridges. (Probably downriver too, but couldn't see them. :P)
4/5: A skeleton.
5/5: River treasures in the shape of polished sticks.

Goodbye, Jonathan.

Many of you already know, but I feel I should finish the story properly here as well, he deserves as much.

While I was away on Norway's western coast, Jonathan was run over by a car a late friday night. We did not find out until the middle of next week. The driver said he died instantly.

He will be much missed.

Norway Road Trip Summer 07 - Chapter 4: Driving Home

Driving home, a week early due to a combination of events conspiring together to get us back home.
We stopped when we got up to Vöringfossen (the Voering falls), braving the rain and the wind to have a look. My lens got rained on, so most of the photos were crap, but here is a selection anyway..

1/5: Continue at your own risk! Sounds much more ominous in the English translation than in the four other languages.
2/5: The falls, or part of them.
3/5: More of them. The hotel gives some impression of the dimensions. To the right is the precipice we were on first, and where the straight down photo below was taken.
4/5: And even more.
5/5: Faaaar down.. I get dizzy just from looking at the photo.

The five last photos are rather dark, due to the weather.
1/5: Clouds hanging low, westwards view from Vöringfossen.
2/5: It rained most of the way, just a light drizzle until we reached the highlands, but after that a steady rain. Not very encouraging to take pictures in that weather!
3/5: N's beloved snow!
4/5: Snow close enough to walk on, and with snow algae growing in it (ooh, interesting, interesting!!).
5/5: I included this photo because it is the last photo I took until we got back to Stockholm. Too bad it rained so much. Will have to repeat the trip in good weather.. ;)

Norway Road Trip Summer 07 - Chapter 3: Ships

1/5: Statsraad Lehmkuhl with the glacier in the background. Sweet.
2/5: Statsraaden is getting closer. Better images on her own site.
3/5: Loyal on the western horizon.
4/5: Stord, whistling at us.
5/5: Stord showing her round bum.

1/2: This is what the UFO's from this post looks like close up. Sorry about the tilt, hard to take straight photos from boats.
2/2: Norwegian pride bla bla: Ship and glacier. Fugly modern ships.. :P As a curious sidenote: This was the third time in one day I saw this particular ship, with its digger - first going north, then south, and here it is coming back north.

Norway Road Trip Summer 07 - Chapter 2: Halsnøy Rundt

A week ago we joined Pauline's regular crew for a weekend trip, arranged for and by the Coast Association in Hordaland (I don't know if you have a formal name in English - Ingunn, please correct me if you do!). The actual happening was a trip around an island (or group of islands, I'm not 100% sure about the actual geography), mostly by traditional small crafts (Faering and others), this time rowed, but also by bigger traditional craft.

1/2: Starting point, the boathouses. Midnight photo though, and it was a nice sunny day when we started - however the clouds soon came back, as you can see further down.
2/2: Folgefonna, one of Norway's large glaciers, is visible on the horizon.
Some views from aboard and from the landscape (seascape?).
